The Vetere Studio

Professional Lessons in Bel Canto/Opera for professional, semi-professional, and amateur singers.

The Vetere Studio is comprised of professional, semi-professional, amateur singers and rising young artists whose passion it is to sing lieder, art song, musical theatre, and opera. At various levels of development, each singer is encouraged to thrive on their passion and exceed their limits; for some, the gumption to do so is at any cost. This family of unique and inspiring singers is the place to come and stretch your musical limits, bear your soul, and all in the name of music.

Under the direction of opera historian and soprano, Dr. Mary-Lou Vetere, the singers of the Vetere Studio commit to an authentic Bel Canto technique passed down from the likes of Mafalda Favero, Enrico Caruso, Claudia Muzio, Maria Callas, Beniamino Gigli, Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti, Renata Tebaldi, and the studios conduit to this magnificent school, the incomparable and legendary Aprile Millo of the Metropolitan Opera. Singers learn the diligence that an artistic career requires, and the necessary skills to become a respected artist, reliable performer, and above all a healthy singer.

Singers improve their overall vocal production, focus of tone, diction, vowel placement, breath control, phrasing, musicality, and dedication to Bel Canto technique. Many singers from the Vetere Studio have been accepted to university programs, opera programs in Italy, Vienna, and Germany, and many have performed professionally in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

The Vetere Studio offers numerous performance opportunities per year in public recitals, showcases, and in 2012 began presenting full-scale productions in the Niagara Region with the highly publicized and sold-out “Opera Grandissima” in which the special guest performer was Metropolitan Opera Soprano, Aprile Millo. The goal of the studio is to bring opera to the Niagara Region and abroad in an authentic and exciting manner.
