Carmen shakes things up, everywhere she goes! And, we LOVE it!

Two major North American companies are simultaneously staging Bizet’s “Carmen”, the Metropolitan Opera and the Canadian Opera Company.  It seems that Carmen, the woman and the opera, generates headlines and shakes things up no matter where she goes.  At both houses, cancellations made headlines and understudies either impressed or didn’t, much to the chagrin or pleasure of devoted Carmenites. Here are some reviews of both productions.

Best Wishes for the coming decade, 2010!!!

If you will excuse my absence over the last little bit, Christmas didn’t agree with me I suppose (laughing).  Actually, the stomach flu managed to hit me just before Christmas eve and so I haven’t been online very much.  Thankfully, I’m getting back to my old self and am planning to spend the turn of the decade in my favourite city on this earth, New York, among good friends, laughter, and loved ones.  Sometimes being sick over the holidays makes you thankful for being able to spend time and celebrate when you are healthy.

That being said, I wish you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2010 and the entire decade, at that.  May wishes come true, may your dreams be realized, and may the genre we love so much, opera, continue to grow and maintain its vibrant truths.  God Bless you.
