25 years ago, a young protégé stepped on to the stage of the Metropolitan opera and made history. The opera was Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra,” and the role of Amelia a perfect fit for the young soprano. Since then, she has graced the stages of the world with her golden voice and devoted herself entirely to an authentic Italian style. She remains the reigning queen of Italian Opera in this century.
